Aristocrat Acquires Plarium Global In $500m Deal

In the latest M&A news, the firm has now revealed that its acquisition deal of Israeli social gaming company Plarium Global has finally been completed. The latter firm was acquired by Aristocrat for a massive cash consideration of $500 million in total, giving it access to all of Plarium’s games and software content.

The deal, which was agreed upon and finalised in August this year, will see the Australian slot machine manufacturer paying an upfront cost of $500 million for the purchase of Plarium, which includes an earn-out arrangement that is payable to the company’s shareholders following the end of both 2017 and 2018.

Australian Firm To Take Full Ownership Of Plarium

Aristocrat has now confirmed that they have acquired all of the necessary regulatory approvals that are required to complete the acquisition deal, enabling them to offer Plarium’s range of online games on their own gaming platforms. The well-established slots provider will now take full ownership of Plarium Global as a result.

Established in Israel in 2009, Plarium is known in particular for its range of multiplayer online video games, including Soldiers, Inc.; Vikings: War of Clans; Terminator Genisys: Future War; Sparta: War of Empires; and Stormfall. The company currently employs over 1,200 experts in its five gaming studios and numerous offices based in the USA, Europe, and Israel.

Firms Look Forward To Growing Digital Businesses

In a statement describing the new deal, Aristocrat Managing Director Trevor Croker commented that the acquisition is ‘truly compelling’, as it will increase the firm’s presence in high-growth mobile gaming markets and significantly increase its digital earnings and overall contributions to Aristocrat.

The acquisition, Croker noted, also reiterates Aristocrat’s dedication to acquiring high growth verticals and increasing its revenue streams. He also revealed that the purchase deal is expected to be EPS accretive in its first year, and that Plarium’s key management staff have remained in their roles.

Croker stated that Aristocrat is delighted to have Plarium and its talented development team joining its family. Together, he noted, the two firms can look forward to building their successful digital gaming businesses together, for the benefit of both shareholders and stakeholders in Aristocrat.
